Brief Introduction to
Yong Xi Huo Qing Green Tea

Yong Xi Huo Qing, a famous Chinese green tea, is originally produced in a village named Yong Xi located in Jing County of China’s Anhui Province, thus it was commonly called Yong Xi Huo Qing tea.

Yongxi Huoqing is actually a kind of gunpowder tea (Zhu Cha), it takes the form of round waist particle, each one is tight to be real. It is an overwhelming green tea for those who prefer strong flavour. Huo Qing Tea was tightly rolled, dark, glossy leaves with a few more yellowy shades. It is called as jade fire as the tea has been fired over charcoal. It unfurls in the cup to produce a lovely scene. The distinctively rich and smooth floral flavor presents a pleasant balance of astringency and sweetness with a long and refreshing aftertaste. The tea has a strong, vegetal and lasting flavour. As it has been fired by charcoal during the process, it has a unique light smokey fragrance.

The picking time of Yong Xi Huo Qing Tea spans from Qing Ming to Guyu Season, the picking standard is one bud with two tender leaves. The fresh leaves taken back will be strictly screened before Sha Qing (literally as Kill Green). The making processese are so complicated that only tea masters with many year experience can be competent for the work.

Yong Xi Huo Qing tea was a tribute tea in the Qing dynasty, its making techniques ever got lost and luckily recovered in 1950s. Huo Qing tea has gained a good reputation in its history, Wang Shi Shen, a painter and poet in the Qing Dynasty, tried the tea and suddenly felt fragrance penetrating thoughout the whole body, and then he even wrote a lyric poem to praise the tea.
